Back-end Developer / Digital Ninja (Vancouver)

Adbusters is looking to expand our digital presence and we are on the hunt for a whiz kid who can help us carry out our digital revolution. You will be working closely with the front-end developer to manage our websites and servers, digital subscription services, and digital marketing (when needed), while maintaining the Adbusters visual language/aesthetic. Any knowledge in web app development would be an element to amp our consideration!

Candidates should be competent with:

  • Javascript, php
  • Server experience (domain, database, cloud backup)
  • WordPress
  • Responsive web design/development
  • Bonus: React.js, Angular.js, JASON, Shopify Liquid, SASS

…and interested in:

  • Experimental web design (organic layout, music / animation / transition for web)
  • Improving UX/UI

Visual Designer / MEME Propagator(Vancouver)

Adbusters is looking for a politically-charged Visual Designer to join our creative team. The Visual Designer’s main job will be to take stories and images from Adbusters magazine and adapt them creatively for the web.

The Visual Designer will also come up with original concepts for our magazine, websites and upcoming World Revolution App.

A willingness to work hard in a spirited, collaborative environment is essential. Preferred applicants will demonstrate a political bent and a willingness to engage with the pressing issues of our time. Applicants from all backgrounds are welcome.

Graphic Designer (Vancouver)

Adbusters is looking for a digital and graphic whiz to help take our magazine and websites to the next level. The ideal applicant must have strong web and graphic design skills and some professional experience working in the fieldat. A willingness to work hard in a spirited, collaborative environment is essential. Preferred applicants will be have a political bent and a willingness to engage with the pressing issues of our time.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Assisting the Editor-in-Chief and Creative Director to create our bi-monthly magazine
  • Creating online visual memes for our adbusters.org and abillionpeople.org websites
  • Maintaining our soon-to-be-released World Revolution App

Requirements:

  • MUST have Intermediate knowledge with Adobe Creative Suite (especially InDesign)
  • Basic understanding of print production and pre-flight workflow
  • Good understanding and working knowledge of HTML, CSS and WordPress

Art Assistant (Vancouver)

Adbusters is looking for an art assistant with a strong visual and design sensibility. Preferred applicants will have a political bent and be engaged with the pressing issues of our time.

 

Duties include but are not limited to:

–       Working alongside our Art Director and Editor-in-Chief to research and design core images for the magazine

–       Designing T-shirts, posters, stickers, etc.

–       Posting visual memes on our websites

Requirements:

–       Knowledge with Adobe Creative Suites (especially InDesign)

–     Working knowledge of HTM and WordPress

Office Assistant (Vancouver)

Adbusters is looking for an enterprising office assistant to help keep our ship afloat. You will be responsible for a wide variety of tasks, so must possess a flexible attitude and aptitude for quick problem solving. Ideal candidates will have a political bent and be engaged with the pressing issues of our time.

 

Duties include but are not limited to:

–       Handling orders, subscriptions, and shipping

–       Public relations and communications

–       Helping our office manager to get things done

Web + Graphic Intern (Vancouver)

Adbusters Media Foundation is offering an unpaid internship position at our organization during our ongoing website upgrade. The ideal candidate will have either formal training or a background in web coding as well as a solid understanding of anything and everything that goes into making a website live. If you are a fast learner with multidisciplinary skills in web + graphics and are seeking professional experience in the field of web development, send your resume and portfolio to minjee@adbusters.org

Duties include but are not limited to:

–       Assist with the website migration project, backing up WordPress site

–       Create and optimize graphics for web use while maintaining the Adbusters aesthetic

–       Create page design mock-ups

–       Translate mock-up designs into code

Requirements:

–       basic knowledge of HTML, CSS, WordPress

–       Intermediate knowledge of javascript (other js library is an asset)

–       A willingness to learn about Webflow

–       A team-player attitude—the job is very collaborative and you will need to work closely with the Art Director and Web Designer

Adbusters is looking for a bunch of politically-minded, dynamic people to join our web and management teams at our Vancouver office. Preferred applicants will have an activist bent, some publishing or web experience, and a desire to engage with the pressing issues of our time.
